We are pleased to share a successful outcome for our client following the discharge of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Our Approach
This result was achieved following an application to the Crown Court, referencing the right for offender’s prohibitions to be reviewed with the permission of the chief police officer. Our submissions addressed the strong compliance of our professional client since the order was imposed and his willingness to positively engage with his offending manager over a decade-long period.
We obtained witness statements that attested to his good character since the original offending behaviour. In light of these submissions, the Judge discharged the SHPO, citing our client’s hard work and cooperation with the police.
Our Team
The matter was prepared and led by Andrew McArthur and assisted by George Fox, working alongside instructed counsel Tom Lambert of QEB-Hollis Whiteman.

This outcome demonstrates that a Sexual Harm Prevention Order is not necessarily permanent. Where an individual can show sustained compliance, genuine rehabilitation, and a commitment to leading a law-abiding life, it may be possible to persuade the court that ongoing restrictions are no longer necessary.
By carefully evidencing our client’s progress, obtaining compelling character evidence, and presenting robust submissions to the court, we secured the discharge of the SHPO and the removal of the restrictions that had affected his daily life.
