Not Guilty Verdict For Rape And Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm

We have recently concluded a significant and hard-fought trial at Leamington Spa Crown Court, where our client faced two counts of Rape and one count of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. The first allegation of rape had been filed with no further action by the police approximately 10 years prior, and had been reopened following the second rape allegation.

Following a 6-day trial, the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts on all counts against our young client.

The case involved a lengthy and contested s.8 application, in which the majority of disclosure requests were granted, as well as two applications to dismiss which were ultimately refused.

The matter was prepared and led by solicitors Andrew McArthur and Andrea Skov, working closely with instructed counsel Eleanor Laws KC and Georgina Jenkins of QEB Hollis Whiteman.
